Mamma Mia The Musical

Mamma Mia the musical was launched in the West End back in 1999 at the Prince Edward theatre. It came, it was loved and it still goes merrily on, now at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Tough it does not have the depth for a bewildering experience, but it is quite unique in another way… Director Phyllida Lloyd explains, “In ingenious story, the audience seems to be having a very particular experience.” Mamma Mia the musical works on an elemental basis with its audience.

Women will be able to relate especially because it delivers all the emotions of womanhood at different parts of their lives, even bringing times into sharp comparison.

Catherine Johnson was given the tough task of writing a compelling storyline to use Abba’s songs and she has really woven a superbly fun tale. Here is how it goes

More About Mamma Mia The Musical

Mamma Mia the musical works on an elemental basis with its audience. Women will be able to relate especially because it delivers all the emotions of womanhood at different parts of their lives, even bringing times into sharp comparison.

Our main character is Sophie Sheridan who lives with her mother, named Donna, on a small Greek island. The place is beautiful and Sophie is just about to get married to Sky. Well, like all girls she wants her dad to walk her down the aisle but the problem is that she has never met him. Sophie asks her mum who refuses to talk about it and so takes it on her own to find him. She rummages through Donna’s personal diaries and soon finds the names of three men who could possibly be her dad.

Well, Sophie calls them all to the Island without telling her mother, of-course. The fun begins when all three men arrive at the island... they are shocked, so is Donna and Sophie is about to unearth her dad. Songs are slotted into the storyline beautifully. The sweet story makes the evening exactly what it is experienced to be… just a lot fun… superb fun! Mamma Mia tickets deliver excellent value for the money you spend. In fact, we highly recommend Mamma Mia even if you are coming to London on a relieving theatre break.

Mamma Mia the musical never tries to be a million dollar blockbuster like The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera and the likes. It just plainly tries to be popular entertainment. Based on songs by ABBA this one is a treat of a lifetime for their fans and could be a nightmare for those who don’t like them. But for neutral people, those who want a good evening, Mamma Mia tickets will give a blockbuster evening. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeusactually wrote the songs for ABBA and have in fact played a vital role in the production’s music.
